The New Year is coming around the corner once again, and according to the timekeepers of an ancient civilization, this one will surely be our last. So, in light of your imminent demise, why not give 2011 a proper send-off with some food, a little music, and a glass or seven of champagne? Don't worry, you'll have help kissing 2011 goodbye from these Houston establishments.
Usher in 2012 with Bar Munich, which will have DJ KnightTrax spinning tunes, a midnight countdown and a champagne toast. There will be no cover. All guests are invited to wear whatever they want, but encouraged to dig out the ugliest sweater in their closet and compete in the Bar's That's a Damn Ugly Sweater Contest.

For New Year's Eve, there will be a regular menu and open seating, with the option of a special multi-course menu at $55 per person. There will also be live music featuring Lou Carrington and dancing.

Starting at 8:30 p.m., music will play all night, leading up to a fireworks finale at midnight. For the full experience, CityCentre invites guests to stay overnight at Hotel Sorella as part of a package deal with the Monnalisa Bar, which starts at $289 and includes a balloon drop, a glass of champagne and live entertainment by the Norma Zenteno Band, as well as a night's sleep in the hotel. Another package includes all of the above, plus a dinner at the Bistro Alex, and starts at $499. Other restaurants and establishments in the area will be offering specials as well.

The Crystal Ballroom at the Rice Hotel will be holding the Crystal Ball New Year's Eve Party from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. The event is all-inclusive, and will feature five bars, a DJ in the Empire Room, live music by Drive in the ballroom proper, and a breakfast buffet (courtesy of Sambuca Restaurant) at 1 a.m. Tickets can be purchased online and cost $100.
Dan Electro's will be hosting a free New Year's Eve show featuring Little Brian and the Travelers. There will be funk, zydeco, blues and roots jams to keep the guests dancing till they drop and, of course, a champagne toast. There is no cover charge.

Bring the kids in on the fun with Sharkey's New Year's Eve Bash. Watch the ball drop and help usher in 2012 with Sharkey and his friends in the Nautilus Ballroom. Fitz will be giving away free passes to Free Press Summer Fest 2012 and other Fitz shows as well as a wide variety of T-shirts. All ages are welcome; entry is free for everybody 21 and older, and $10 for everyone else. Doors will open at 8 p.m. The show starts at 8:30 p.m.
House of Blues Houston will be holding its New Year's Eve VIP Ball in the Foundation Room starting at 6 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The price of general admission is $50, and it's 21 and up. The event includes a buffet, party favors, a DJ and a champagne toast at midnight.

The young single-adult ministry of Houston's First Baptist Church invites young single adults to welcome 2012 with bowling, DJ and dancing, karaoke, a game room, heavy hors d'oeuvres, desserts and more at the Suits And Sneakers New Year's Eve Party. The event runs from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., and entry will cost $44 in advance and $49 at the door.
