New Year’s Eve Live

Taking the place of Downtown Houston’s annual Gloworama celebration is the newly named New Year’s Eve Live. Like its predecessor, it will feature live music, a parade, and a 3-D light show. The free event will take place from 7 p.m. to 12:15 a.m. in and around Discovery Green and George R. Brown Convention Center, and is open to all ages. For the celebrations, there will be a temporary stage added to the Great Lawn, as well as a beer and champagne garden for of-age guests, with the St. Joseph Medical Center’s Ice at Discovery Green remaining open for skaters. The parade will have an expanded route this year, and the 3-D light show will return, beginning at 11:30 p.m. The event will wrap up with a fireworks display. For the Houstonians who cannot make is, catch Texas’s only live broadcasted countdown on ABC 13 from 11:05 p.m. to 12:15 a.m.
Sat., Dec. 31, 7 p.m.-12:15 a.m., 2011
