Discovery Green and George R. Brown Convention Center

Taking the place of Downtown Houston's annual Gloworama celebration is the newly named New Year's Eve Live. Like its predecessor, it will feature live music, a parade and a 3-D light show. The free event will take place from 7 p.m. to 12:15 a.m. in and around Discovery Green and George R. Brown Convention Center, and is open to all ages. For the celebrations, there will be a temporary stage added to the Great Lawn, as well as a beer and champagne garden for of-age guests, with the St. Joseph Medical Center's Ice at Discovery Green remaining open for skaters. The parade will have an expanded route this year, and the 3-D light show will return, beginning at 11:30 p.m. The event will wrap up with a fireworks display. For Houstonians who cannot make it, catch Texas's only live broadcast countdown on ABC 13 from 11:05 p.m. to 12:15 a.m.
