Every thriller needs an evildoer, and David Foley’s play Deadly Murder has more than one. In the first place, wealthy jewelry designer Camille Dargus has picked up Billy, a waiter, and brought him back to her apartment. Is Billy a boneheaded blackmailer or a masterminded manipulator? Whatever the case, he’s certainly bad, because he’s taken Camille hostage in her own apartment. There’s also Ted, the security guard that Camille’s summoned to her apartment for help. It’s not clear which side he’s on. Through verbal twists and turns, we discover there’s more to Camille than first meets the eye — the broad’s got a past.
