I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change

Relationships are labyrinths of hilarious moments of miscommunication and frustrated desires — at least that’s the premise behind Joe DiPietro and Jimmy Roberts’s amazingly successful 1997 off-Broadway hit I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change. The musical, which has been translated into everything from Chinese to Turkish, follows the arc of a relationship through vignettes on the first date, the frustrations of family life and death. The scenes stand as independent stories about love, sex and everything that gets in the way. Songs include “Cantata for a First Date,” “Single Man Drought,” “The Baby Song” and “Funerals Are for Dating,” but there are lots of tender moments about love woven in between the sillier tunes. 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 2 p.m. January 22 and 7:30 p.m. January 26. Through January 28. Country Playhouse, 12802 Queensbury. For information, call 713-467-4497 or visit www.countryplayhouse.org. $12 to $28.
