''Snail Mail''

Over the years, the staff at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston has received thousands of photos with notes scribbled on them. Some were just a few words long; others were full-length letters. Some were correspondence about upcoming exhibits, others just friendly notes. One untitled image, by Greta Pratt, shows two children in traditional dress holding a menorah. Pratt writes “Happy Holidays” across the bottom. After amassing a collection of some 1,500 such images, the museum decided to share a bit of the treasure trove with us in an exhibit they call ''Snail Mail.'' The exhibit is a bit of a tease, showing only a few of the hundreds of images from the museum’s photography collection, but it’s a rare peek into the MFAH’s vaults. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, 12:15 to 7 p.m. Sundays. 1001 Bissonnet.
