Orlando Jones

You can trust Orlando Jones for laughs; just don’t trust him to hand you a drink. The comedian was the driving creative force in those brilliant commercials that showed blind taste tests proving 7 Up is more refreshing than dishwater, wallpaper paste and chum. An original cast member on MadTV, Jones was also behind some classic skits, including a Christmas sketch featuring his signature character, the Rev. LaMont Nixon Fatback, and a visiting Harry Connick Jr. The Rev and sidekick Connick encouraged people to stop the inappropriate commercialization of the birth of Jesus by purchasing as many of Connick’s CDs as possible…they make good table levelers, apparently, and you can build a toboggan out of them. Since then, Jones has gone on to success in films, such as Double Take with Eddie Griffin and Evolution with David Duchovny. See him at his original job, stand-up, at 8 p.m. Thursday, 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The Improv, 7620 Katy Freeway. For information, call 713-333-8800 or visit www.improvhouston.com.
