Mystery novelist Tami Hoag often finds inspiration for her plots in newspaper headlines. Cases like the Natalee Holloway tragedy sparked a series of “what if” questions for Hoag that eventually became Down the Darkest Road, her latest title. In Darkest Road, a 16-year-old girl was previously kidnapped. Hoag focuses on the family she left behind, especially the girl’s younger sister Leah, now overprotected by her fearful mother, Lauren.
