Dominic Walsh Dance Theater's Winter Mixed Rep

Be prepared for an emotional roller coaster during the Dominic Walsh Dance Theater’s Winter Mixed Rep. Sure to be a highlight of the evening is the revival of 27’52’’ by Jirí Kylián, considered by many to be the most prestigious and innovative choreographer working today. Dirk Haubrich created the music for 27’52’’ by mixing modern electronic music with motifs by Gustav Mahler.

Three works by Walsh are on the program. DWDT company member Domenico Luciano performs selections from the abstract The Trilogy: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. He’ll partner with Stefania Figliossi, from Italy, for duets from Amadeus and Mozart, and dance with Hana Sakai, from Japan, for Wolfgang. While there is no story line for Trilogy, Walsh’s choreography captures the frantic zest of the composer, from his irreverence to his humor, his passion to his pain. Tyann Clement, formerly with the Houston Ballet, takes on the Dying Swan solo, a dramatic and evocative piece by Walsh. Nessuno, an exploration of the idea of belonging, gets its Texas premiere here. 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Hobby Center, 800 Bagby. For information, call 713‑315‑2525 or visit www.dwdt.org. $25 to $82.
Feb. 9-11, 7:30 p.m., 2012
