One of the most important documents in American history will be on display for a scant six days when the Houston Museum of Natural Science hosts the Emancipation Proclamation. Signed by Abraham Lincoln, the document that freed the slaves will be on display as part of the museum’s “Discovering the Civil War.” Don’t miss the rest of the exhibit, including original Freedmen’s Bureau records documenting crimes and abuses against African Americans in Texas, and a film of the 75th reunion of Battle of Gettysburg veterans. 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursdays to Mondays, 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Houston Museum of Natural Science, 5555 Hermann Park Drive. For information, call 713-639-4629 or visit www.hmns.org. $18 to $25.
