Proposals

The Hines family is gathering in the Poconos for the summer. It’s 1953 and love is in the air. The stage comedy Proposals, by Neil Simon, captures the romantic adventures of the family, their housekeeper and assorted past and future lovers. There’s Burt, 55 years old and recovering from his second heart attack; he’s waiting hopefully for his ex-wife to arrive. His daughter Josie is newly un-engaged and already longing for her fiancé’s best friend Ray. Trouble is, Ray has turned up with a dimwit model. And there’s Clemma the housekeeper, who has romantic troubles of her own to attend to while she tries to keep up with the Hineses and all their guests. 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 2 p.m. March 4 and 7:30 p.m. March 8. Through March 10. Country Playhouse, 12802 Queensbury. For information, call 713-467-4497 or visit www.countryplayhouse.org. $19 to $22.
