''Richard Serra Drawing: A Retrospective''

Houston is the last stop on an American tour for the exhibit Richard Serra Drawing: A Retrospective.” Organized by The Menil Collection, the show is the first-ever overview of the artist’s abstract work. Serra is credited with changing the practice of drawing through his use of new techniques, incorporating uncommon media, and producing works on a monumental scale. There are more than 80 pieces in the show, including a newly created site-specific work filling an entire gallery. There are also 30 of Serra’s notebooks, large framed works (some extend to the ceiling and are 20 feet wide) and four films by the artist.

There’s a preview 5 to 9 p.m. March 1. Regular viewing hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays. Through June 10. 1533 Sul Ross. For information, call 713-525-9400 or visit www.menil.org. Free.
