More About

This year's season of Rodeo Houston musical entertainment, which continues to grow ever poppier and rockier, ends Sunday with the traditional country stylings of 20-year veteran Alan Jackson. The man has played the March event every single year since 1992, save two during the early '00s, and his draw doesn't seem to be diminishing. With a back catalog of hits, including the 34 No. 1s collected on 2011's aptly titled 34 Number Ones, his sets manage to pull in country fans of every age and stripe. He can make you dance ("Don't Rock the Jukebox"), ponder the finer things in life ("Chattahoochee") and appreciate what you got and not what you don't ("Little Bitty"). Jackson has managed to steer clear of pop-country trends, instead opting for classic cool, more like John Anderson with a sense of humor. One of his most enduring cuts, the family drama of 2003's "Remember When," will make even the hardest-bitten truck-driving redneck in the Reliant crowd hide his tears from the missus. When not playing festivals and rodeos, Jackson lives outside of Nashville with his wife of more than 30 years and tries his damnedest to keep track of his three college-age daughters.
