In Below the Belt, every single character wants to be anywhere but here, no matter where they are. The three-man comedy is directed by Trevor B. Cone, who tells us the action is set in an unnamed corporation’s offshore quality-control facility. “It’s a satirical look at corporate America, or corporate anywhere, for that matter,” he says.
Dobbitt (played by Todd Thigpen) has arrived for his first day of work. He meets his co-worker, a weary and burned-out Hanrahan (John Stevens). Together they suffer under Merkin (Kurt Bauer), their egotistical boss who has no real power but is determined to throw his weight around. Cone sums it up this way, “It’s Monty Python meets Dilbert.”
