In Beth Henley’s Crimes of the Heart, at least one of the crimes in question is a federal offense. The Pulitzer Prize-winning dark comedy features the three Magrath sisters (Meg, Babe and Lenny), who get together after Babe shoots her abusive husband. Babe’s crime involved a gun and blood, but Meg and Lenny have also committed some offenses, albeit sans gunfire, in the name of love.
