She looks like she belongs on the cover of Seventeen magazine, not on the New York Times best-seller list. But don’t let appearances fool you; Tea Obreht is an extremely talented and gifted novelist. Appearing at today’s Margarett Root Brown Reading Series, Obreht will discuss her acclaimed 2011 debut release, The Tiger’s Wife. The book chronicles the story of a young doctor who, against a backdrop of the recent Balkans conflict, explores the secrets of her late grandfather’s life. Obreht was born in the former Yugoslavia but grew up in Egypt and Cyprus before settling in the United States 15 years ago.
