Pauly Shore

Early in his career, comedian Pauly Shore developed an alter-ego, a stoner named Weasel, whose catchphrase was the slow “Hey, BU-DDY.” Shore and Weasel left a pop culture mark on anyone who watched MTV in the late 1980s/early 1990s. Since then the comedian has alternately embraced and detached himself from the persona, which he chronicled to great effect in the 2003 mockumentary Pauly Shore Is Dead.

Now on his latest stand-up tour, the son of comedian Sammy Shore and wife Mitzi— who founded L.A.’s influential standup venue The Comedy Store—offers observations that translate into any decade. “I love when guys go out together as a group because they think they’re going to get laid. They’re driving down the street to the club singing, ‘We’re gonna get some pussy, pussy!' And at the end of the night what they hear is, ‘Welcome to Burger King. Can I take your order?'”

This month, Shore stars in the CMT movie Whiskey Business, about a Jersey Shore guido on the run from the mob who ends up tending bar in Tennessee. Hilarity ensues, y’all. See if Shore pops out his Weasel at 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 7:30 p.m. Sunday. The Improv, 7620 Katy Freeway. For information, call 713-888-3300 or visit www.improvhouston.com. $22 to $25.
