Downfall 2012 is celebrating its 15th anniversary at the top of its game. Liberally drawing from industrial, progressive and alternative rock, the trio was already a familiar name in Houston metal circles, both a multiple Houston Press Music Awards nominee and the 94.5 FM-sponsored Texas Buzz awards' reigning Best Metal Band. But vocalist Daniel Gil, who presciently affixed "2012" to Downfall's name about 15 years ago, and brought on bassist Boo Rogers and drummer Casey Bowen in 2007, wants the year for which his band is named to be truly special. Saturday, he's releasing the first installment of Everyman for Himself, a three-part work illustrated by Houston graphic artist A. Tomic "about a character in major conflict with himself and those surrounding him, and is basically about the bumpy path to self-awareness and internal peace," Gil says.
