Playing the saxophone was just a hobby for Stephen Richard — until he started taking private lessons from the late, great Conrad Johnson. While he was still in high school, he got a chance to sit in during a sound check with the late Grover Washington Jr’s band. He recalls that moment as a turning point in his life.
