Calling all foodies and anyone else who enjoys some good eats: The Houston Press’s celebrated evening of food and drink, The Menu of Menus Extravaganza presented by Stella Artois, is firing up the grill. For ten years, the annual event has attracted hundreds of hungry Houstonians, who spend the night sampling the work of some of the top culinary talents in the area. More than 40 restaurants will be on hand to offer up their delicious bites, including Beavers, Artisans, Radical Eats, Roots Bistro, Happy Fatz and Café Dolce Gelato, among many others, in an all-out “best of” food competition. Not only is food on the menu, but there will also be a wide selection of wines and spirits for sampling.
This year the event has added another battle to its lineup: The first Iron Fork Competition will pit two up-and-coming local chefs, Amanda McGraw, chef de cuisine of Brasserie 19, and Kevin Naderi, chef and owner of Roost, in an Iron Chef-style cookoff. Celebrity Chef Monica Pope will moderate alongside other celebrity judges, including Special K of 104.1 KRBE.
Eating and drinking go hand in hand with merrymaking, and musical entertainers Faye Robinson & The Mid City Players will keep the party rocking all night long. Menu of Menus always donates a portion of the proceeds to a deserving charity, and this year’s beneficiary is Kids’ Meals, Inc., which delivers nutritious meals to the doors of children in need. Eating and drinking for a good cause — what better reason do you need? If you haven’t picked up your tickets yet, hop to it. This has become one of the most coveted tickets in town and will certainly sell out by the night of the event. 7 to 10 p.m. Silver Street Station, 1500 Silver Street.
