Wordsmyth 2012 Reading Series: Reading of Forgotten Kingdoms by Randy Baker

It’s a question of faith in Randy Baker’s Forgotten Kingdoms, which is getting a staged reading as part of the Wordsmyth Theater Company 2012 Reading Series. In Baker’s two-act play, the Reverend David Holiday is a Christian missionary working in Indonesia. It’s hard work, and the reverend has been so busy he’s neglected his young son, who is now gravely ill. Yusuf, the village chief’s son, comes to sit with Holiday, who’s brimming with anticipation, thinking that if he can convert the chief’s son, the rest of the village will soon follow. What he doesn’t know is that Yusuf has an ulterior motive for being there. The chief is ill, and his only chance for a cure is to take over the body of Holiday’s young son. 7 p.m. Main Street Theater/Chelsea Market, 4617 Montrose.
