More About

The importance of the proper soundtrack to a film can’t be overstated. What would that first shark attack in Jaws be without John Williams’s famous brooding cello piece that signals the horror to come, or the transformation of Eric Draven into the Crow character without the Cure’s “Burn”? One of Houston’s most prolific contemporary music groups, Musiqa, is out to see just how much difference a score can make to a famous movie with today’s Alternate Tracks. The event features original compositions by music students from Rice University and the University of Houston performed by Musiqa company members. The new compositions will accompany famous, iconic film clips, putting a new spin on the scenes. The project is a partnership with “Perspectives 178: Cinema,” currently on display at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston. 7:30 p.m. 5216 Montrose. For information, call 713-284-8250 or visit www.camh.org.
