Writer Buzz Bissinger (Friday Night Lights) has a rare gift for storytelling, but is he strong enough to convey his own nightmare as the father of a savant? The answer, as seen in his new novel Father’s Day, is an overwhelming yes. The memoir follows Bissinger and his son Zach on a road trip as they visit different places where the family has lived. Bissinger’s son is both mentally gifted and handicapped — he has an amazing memory and other skills, but is unable to navigate everyday tasks.
