''Unrivaled Splendor: The Kimiko and John Powers Collection of Japanese Art'' is coming to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston for a three-month stay. The exhibit is made up of 85 masterworks from the Powers Collection, thought to be one of the three most important collections of Japanese art in the United States. The works seen in the exhibit range from courtly to popular arts and include some of the earliest known Japanese Buddhist art, sculptures and scrolls filled with calligraphy painted by Zen monks.

One particularly striking folding screen shows a group of archers on horseback running drills while spectators watch from the sidelines. Made up of color and an abundance of gold leaf on paper, the screen is one of a pair. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 12:15 to 7 p.m. Sundays.
