With four women with voices of this caliber, this show in The Woodlands threatens to reverberate all the way to Galveston. Queen bee of this bunch is Angela Strehli, Clifford Antone's onetime muse in Austin who has been a linchpin of Bay Area blues for many years. Strehli has been working the clubs and festival circuit for the past year with three women who aren't slouches in the pipes department themselves: Tracy Nelson, the earth mother of '60s/'70s rockers Mother Earth and "Down So Low," and Dorothy Morrison, the spirit-soaring voice on gospel standard "Oh Happy Day," which has sold an astonishing 7 million copies. Rounding out the evening is Louisiana-born Annie Sampson, known for her rootsy work in the band Storehouse. The quartet stop by the I-45 North coffeehouse writ large promoting the new The Blues Broads CD/DVD combo recorded earlier on the tour. Expect belting.
