Houston filmmaker Baldemar Rodriguez is screening his feature In Search of the American Dream at the 14th Annual Gulf Coast Film & Video Festival. The emotional story of a family torn apart when the parents, undocumented immigrants, are arrested in an ICE raid, American Dream focuses on the consequences to the family’s American-born children, including an adult son. American Dream is set in Texas.

Loop, by filmmaker Jason Shutt, is making its world premiere at the festival. A docudrama, Loop chronicles the story of an ex-cop turned filmmaker as he follows a couple of Houston homicide detectives while they search for a -serial killer.
Brandon Smith, a native Texan, is set to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award during the festival’s gala. Smith is well known for his work in films such as No Country for Old Men, Bernie and several television series, including Friday Night Lights. Various screening times, Thursday through Sunday.
