More About

We're not sure what exploding toothpaste has to do with the 4th of July, but at the Children's Museum of Houston's Kidpendence Day celebration, the Elephant Toothpaste Patriotic Foam Eruption, with a humongous burst of red, white, and blue foam, is one of the most popular events (we're guessing it's just lots of gooey fun, so no 4th of July connection is actually required). There's also a flag-waving parade led by the High Steppers Brass Band and a Boy Scout Color Guard, and a dance party led by the museum's Discovery Guides. Activities include building patriotic pinwheels, party leis, and LED glasses. Artist Paul Klee leads kids in making pastel fireworks (the non-exploding kind). Check with the museum for exact times of specific activities.
Wed., July 4, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., 2012
