Prolific Houston-based author Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni launches her latest book, Oleander Girl, at Asia Society's Books in Conversation series. ''I am very excited that the national launch for this novel will be in Houston at Asia Society's beautiful new center, itself a work of art,'' Divakaruni says. The book centers on a 17-year-old Bengali teen, Korobi Roy, who embarks on a cross-country excursion across America with an attractive stranger following the attacks of September 11. It ''examines the clash between the old and the new in India, the powerful effect family secrets can have on us and the need to love one another in a world torn apart by violent prejudice.''
