Playwright and director S. Denise O’Neal has been having a busy year. In June, she originated and co-produced the hugely successful Fade to Black project, a national playwriting contest celebrating African-American playwrights, the first of its kind to be produced in Houston. Now she debuts Fly in the Windshield, a new play. O'Neal says Fly in The Windshield — based on interviews conducted with a group of men completing a 90-day drug-recovery program — ''is a lighthearted yet poignant story about personal journeys, reminding us about the transforming power of faith, the determination and strength of the human spirit and, with a little help from our friends, the ability to succeed where others have failed.''
