It’s going to be an evening of amazing music at the Houston Symphony Opening Night: Boléro concert. The program includes a performance of Ravel’s famous, smoldering ode to sensuality, led by HS Music Director Hans Graf. The orchestra’s Principal Flutist, Aralee Dorough, and Acting Associate Principal Flutist, Judith Dines, will be featured during Doppler: Finale from Concerto for Two Flutes and Orchestra, while Principal Trumpeter Mark Hughes gets to shine during Hovhaness: Prayer of St. Gregory for Trumpet and Strings. (Symphony lovers can enjoy dinner and dancing after the show, but for a price — tickets to the party start at $650.)

The evening is a kickoff to what promises to be an impressive season. There’s a five-part Best of Brahms program in September and three back-to-back performances of different Beethoven piano concertos by pianist Lang Lang in October. And that’s just for starters.
