What’s worse than Nazis? Space Nazis with no good intentions, duh, like the ones in the new flick Iron Sky. The film has been a long time in the making — the first amazing teaser trailer went online in 2008 — thankfully, the idea of a Nazi regime that had escaped the final days of World War II to establish a lunar colony was just way too awesome to die. After an astronaut’s lunar lander gets a little too close to the hidden base on the dark side of the moon, the Moon Führer — played by Udo Kier — decides the time is ripe to retake the Earth in the name of the Fourth Reich. Soon saucers darken the sky and the battle for supremacy of the planet begins. Director Timo Vuorensola brings the war to wonderful life using the same brilliant Max Fleischer-esque touch that made Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow so beautiful on screen.
