It’s a Wonderful Life- A Live Radio Play

No, it's not the Jimmy Stewart/Frank Capra film; yes, it's the same holiday story of George Bailey's loss of hope and his ultimate redemption. This time It's a Wonderful Life is a stage play presented as a radio broadcast from the mythical station -WBFR's Playhouse of the Air. Five actors portray 43 characters; Texas Repertory's Artistic Director, Steven Fenley, for example, plays WBFR's manager, Freddie Filmore, as well as 14 other roles. The show has all the fun of a backstage peek at the workings of a radio station, but the real revelation is the added humor delivered by playwright Joe Landry's original approach. We still get our heartstrings plucked, but now our funny bone gets treated as well.
Thursdays, 7:30 p.m.; Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 3 p.m. Starts: Nov. 29. Continues through Dec. 23, 2012
