He may be the most famous violinist in the world. He is, without doubt, one of the most talented. Itzhak Perlman, a longtime favorite of local audiences, returns to Houston for a recital concert with pianist Rohan De Silva. Perlman's performances have been described as dynamic and technically eloquent, marked with a sense of spontaneity and a trait for which Perlman is well-known, humor. (He's been known to literally ''throw in the towel'' from the sidelines when enthusiastic crowds demand repeated encores.) On the program is Franck's sweeping and dramatic Sonata for Violin and Piano in A Major, which should lend itself nicely to Perlman's improvisatory nature. Beethoven's Sonata for Piano and Violin No. 1 in D Major, Op. 12, No.1; Tartini's Sonata in G Minor for Violin and Continuo, The Devil's Trill; and other selections announced from the stage round out the program.
