A struggling actor will do just about anything for his next paying gig, but what if a good performance will net him more than a one-time paycheck? In Texas Repertory Theatre's production of the madcap comedy Leading Ladies, Jack and Leo are two penniless Shakespearean actors relegated to performing on the demeaning Moose Lodge Circuit. They don't look forward to playing endless scenes from Shakespeare, so they jump at the chance to strike it rich when they hear that an old woman in Pennsylvania is looking for her two lost nephews to bestow her fortune upon when she dies.
Impersonating two aristocrats is no problem for the classically trained thespian duo, but the job becomes complicated when they learn that it's not two nephews the old dame is looking for, but two nieces. The roles of Jack and Leo are performed by Jeffrey S. Lane and Artistic Director Steven Fenley. The cast also includes Houston theater favorites Lauren Dolk, Marcy Banner and David Walker. 7:30 p.m. Thursdays. 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. 3 p.m. Sundays.
