Life Could Be a Dream

Jukebox musicals, productions that string classic songs together with a loose plot, have long been theater mainstays. The latest jukebox musical from Stages Repertory Theatre, Life Could Be a Dream, features doo-wop standards from the 1960s, including “Earth Angel,” “Only You” and “Unchained Melody.” Roger Bean, the man behind The Marvelous Wonderettes and The Andrew Brothers, has created a fun and heartfelt story about a small band with big dreams. The boys of the Crooning Crabcakes just want to be stars, so when they enter the Big Whopper Radio contest, the last thing on their minds is the ultimate price of fame. (Think Jersey Boys with less rock and more rhythm and blues.) 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 3 p.m. Sundays. Through September 2. 3210 Allen Parkway.
Wednesdays-Sundays. Starts: July 11. Continues through Oct. 14, 2012
