Michael Connelly's new thriller The Black Box will have been on shelves for just one short day when he stops at Murder by the Book for a reading and signing session. Black Box starts on the third night of the L. A. riots, 1992, when police detective Harry Bosch came upon a dead woman in an alley. With 50 dead bodies already piled up, Bosch was given just 15 minutes to investigate before he had to move on to the next murder scene. Now 20 years later, Bosch finds a ballistics match that ties that cold case to a new crime and he sets out to do what he wasn't allowed to do then, solve the woman's murder.
