Moody Gardens has added a super new 100-foot ice slide to its lineup of holiday attractions this year. (The snow in previous years, it seemed, tended to get mushy and soggy in the warm Texas weather, so the festival went with an ice slide that will stay frozen no matter what the temperature.) In addition to snow-tubing down the slide, visitors can tour the Moody Gardens 11th Annual Festival of Lights with more than 100 lighted holiday scenes, including animated light displays such as a Victorian Christmas. A million lights (more or less) have been used in the display, and live choirs and other performers regularly stroll along the lighted trail. Santa will be on hand for photos, the special FX theater will be screening Polar Express 4D Experience and there’s A Magical Christmas Dinner and Show with illusionist Curt Miller for even more holiday choices. 6 to 10 p.m. daily. Through January 5.
