Panto Mother Goose

The rhymes and stories from Mother Goose have delighted children for centuries, spawning many adaptations. Houston's own Kenn McLaughlin, artistic director of Stages Repertory Theatre, keeps the magic going with his own version, Panto Mother Goose. Here, Mother Goose decides to divide the kingdom of Goose Island among her children, starting a turf war that threatens to eliminate poetry (gasp!) from the whole world! But never fear, young Jack and his beloved Jill are about to save the day (whew, we were worried!!). With a large cast of 17, patrons will have the added pleasure of seeing some of Stages' most popular actors in a new roles, colorfully garbed by Tiffani Fuller, in delightful settings by Jodi Bobrovski. McLaughlin wrote the book and lyrics, and David Nehls composed the music. Grownups and kids alike will recognize the beloved characters and savor all the humor and fun that director Ryan Schabach can generate — and with his experience at directing Panto Red Riding Hood, Panto Pinocchio, Panto Sleeping Beauty, Panto Cinderella and Buttons, this is fun aplenty! 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, 2 and 7 p.m. Saturdays, 2 p.m. Sundays. Through January 6. 3201 Allen Parkway.
Tuesdays-Sundays, 7 p.m. Starts: Nov. 20. Continues through Jan. 6, 2012
