Of all the left-wing pundits on MSNBC, Rachel Maddow is arguably the best. Her segments are in-depth and well-researched and stand up -better to fact-checking than those of her colleagues on either side of the spectrum. She's not afraid to go out, even into war zones, and talk to people. And she is certainly the political commentator with the best sense of humor (Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert excepted). She released her first book, Drift: The Unmooring of American Military Power, last year. It's a look at the way the American government increasingly seeks to operate military campaigns in the dark and away from the traditional approval of Congress or public scrutiny. Ironically dedicated to former vice president Dick Cheney, Drift is a fantastic if frightening work that spent seven weeks on the bestseller list. Now Maddow is coming to Houston as part of the Progressive Forum speaker series. Don't miss the opportunity to hear one of the most thoughtful voices in leftist American politics.
