More About

Ann Bannon's series of groundbreaking lesbian novels from the 1950s revealed the struggle of finding true love. Those stories became The Beebo Brinker Chronicles, a stage play adapted from the novels by Kate Moira Ryan and Linda S. Champan. Celebration Theatre presents the Houston premiere of the touching comedy. The plot follows Laura as she arrives in New York City after Beth, her female lover, has married a man in order to live a safe, conventional life. The sheltered Laura meets a cast of wild characters, including the larger-than-life Beebo Brinker (played by Elizabeth Marshall Black), a woman who has her eyes on Laura and every other young lesbian in the Village. On the other side of the country, Beth is struggling to remain in an unhappy marriage. Randall Jobe directs. 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 3 p.m. Sundays. Through December 1.
Nov. 7-8; Fridays-Sundays. Starts: Nov. 7. Continues through Dec. 1, 2012
