As far as event names go, The Full Circle Tour: DJ Cheb i Sabbah & 1002 Nights featuring Mitch Hyare and Riffat Sultana & Party is one of the largest we've seen in a while, but that's understandable -- it's a big, big event. To start with, there's Riffat Sultana. She's the daughter of famed musician Ustad Salamat Ali Khan and the first woman in 11 generations of her family of much-loved and respected musicians ever to sing in public. After some 500 years of performances by the men in the family, her breaking with tradition hasn't been welcomed by everyone -- some members of her family still disapprove, and she isn't allowed to perform in her native Pakistan. But audiences in the West have embraced her. Sultana performs an eclectic mix of traditional and modern music, including folk, romantic ballads and devotional Sufi songs. After her set, she'll share the stage with fusion pioneer DJ Cheb i Sabbah and percussionist Mitch Hyare for an exuberant performance of music that's sure to get everyone moving. 7:30 p.m. Asia Society Texas Center, 1370 Southmore. For information, call 713‑496‑9901 or visit www.asiasociety.org/texas. $20 to $25.
