The Houston Symphony: Disney Live in Concert: Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

In hindsight, letting Johnny Depp portray a wacky pirate in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl seems like a no-brainer, but at the time success was anything but guaranteed. Steven Spielberg, Roman Polanski and even the Muppets accomplished nothing but box office failure with pirates in the decades before Captain Jack Sparrow staggered into our hearts. Luckily for Depp and company, the POTC franchise has outperformed the economies of several small countries and become much beloved. Some of the credit must go to Klaus Badelt and Hans Zimmer for crafting a sweeping, stirring score. Now Houstonians can relive the magic as the Houston Symphony presents Disney Live in Concert: Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. There hasn't been a character theme like ''He's a Pirate!'' in years, and hearing it performed by a full orchestra is sure to be a treat.
