More About

There are simply no words to describe what it was like to buy The Legend of Zelda for Nintendo in 1986. Everything, from the golden cartridge to the epic waterfall title screen to the first notes of one of the most iconic adventure theme songs of all time, screamed to your young mind that this was an experience to treasure forever — and it has been, for 25 years across multiple systems. The Houston Symphony will be doing the game’s incredible legacy justice with Symphony of the Goddess, a musical celebration of the amazing soundtracks that have been featured in the series all the way up to last year’s Skyward Sword. Music has always played a big role in the character Link’s quests, from his manipulating time by playing an ocarina, to using the flute to free the ghost boy’s duck in Link to the Past. Let’s see what magic will be made when the full power of the Houston Symphony channels the enchantments of Hyrule. 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Jones Hall for the Performing Arts, 615 Louisiana.
Fri., July 6, 7:30 p.m.; Sat., July 7, 7:30 p.m., 2012
