Like most musicals, [title of show] is a love story; it's just not the usual boy-meets-girl sort of love story. In the case of [title of show], it's a two-boys-meet-the-stage sort of love story. The musical, with book by Hunter Bell and music and lyrics by Jeff Bowen, is about a couple of guys, coincidentally named Hunter and Jeff. The two have their heart set on making it in theater. When a chance to submit a new musical to a festival comes along, they jump at it. There’s one problem: The deadline is only three short weeks away and the duo has neither lyrics nor a book.
Of course, Hunter and Jeff aren't going to let a little detail like that get in their way. They enlist a couple of friends and set about creating a score and script. The ensuing frenzy of songwriting and development provides a hilarious look into the minds of aspiring creative types, but what makes the musical so enjoyable is its likable characters. Through all the madcap comedy, Hunter and Jeff are just two guys chasing their ultimate dream.
