As the action starts, the President of the United States is dead and no vice president is in place to assume control. With the country on the brink of a constitutional crisis, a small group of neo-patriots plan to violently overthrow the government and seize power for themselves. One woman stands in their way. The novel is based on the real-life Cato Street Conspiracy, an 1820 plot to overthrow the British government.
