More About

For those of you who missed last spring's remarkable get-together of international dance powerhouses at the 2012 Dance Salad Festival, DSF and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston are giving you a second chance with A Touring Taste of Dance Salad Festival. Touring Taste is made up of filmed excerpts from the 2012 festival captured by video artists Bob Ball and Laurie McDonald. Highlights of the festival, which featured acclaimed companies from Germany, London, Rome, Paris, Budapest and Canada, included the English National Ballet's Le Jeune Homme et la Mort (The Young Man and Death), a sensual one-act ballet depicting a young painter's struggle with unrequited love, danced exquisitely by the explosively athletic Yonah Acosta and the ever graceful Jia Zhang. Another crowd favorite was Stuttgart Ballet's Le Grand Pas de Deux, a spoof on ballet traditions featuring a prima ballerina with a handbag battling for attention with her male counterpart. The screening will be followed by a discussion and reception with DSF's artistic director, Nancy Henderek, the genius behind 17 years of one of the most diverse and talent-rich dance festivals in the country.
Thu., Nov. 29, 6:30 p.m., 2012
