Urinetown

What happens when a town faces a drought so severe that it renders even the most basic acts of human hygiene unaffordable luxuries? Such as, oh, let’s say, flushing a toilet. Baytown Little Theater’s production of Urinetown has the answer. In this jazz-infused musical, the water situation has gotten so out of hand that private toilets are an impossibility. Instead, residents must use a public toilet system operated by the Urine Good Company. Anyone who doesn’t pay to use the restroom is punished by exile to Urinetown. The situation may sound absurd, but the musical is a fun, tongue-in-cheek satire on politics and corporate power structures.
