If you tried to call the Coathangers a girl group they'd probably mess you up, but there is a hint of that beehive-hairdo '60s Phil Spector sweetness to go with all their garage-rock fuzz. The Atlanta quartet's 2011 LP Of Larceny & Lace, with spiky post-punk guitar and goosebump-raising organ, will make you sleep with the lights on. Jaill is altogether janglier — you might even call them a pop band — but the Milwaukee trio sprinkles so much MGMT fairy dust onto the Stonesy sugar cookies of their new LP, Traps, that you won't be able to eat just one. Good night to break out the go-go boots.
