See these and other rare treasures in the new Museum of Fine Arts, Houston exhibit ''Art of Islamic Lands: Selections from the al-Sabah Collection, Kuwait.'' One of the best collections of Islamic art in the world, the al-Sabah Collection includes some 30,000 pieces. More than 60 works from the eighth through 18th centuries are on display here including textiles, architectural fragments and ceramics. Carpets, glassware, metalwork, works on paper and scientific instruments are also on view. ''With one stroke, we will be able to show our Houston public the glorious achievement of Islamic visual culture in a comprehensive display,'' says MFAH Director Gary Tinterow via press materials. The ''Art of Islamic Lands'' exhibit is made possible through an ongoing agreement of exchange between Kuwait's Dar-al-Athar al Islamiyyah and the MFAH.
