A Curio-Cabinet Puppet Show

“These inanimate objects have a past and history just as sordid or magic or happy as people do,” says Lindsay Burleson of the 100 or so stars of Boo-Town’s A Curio-Cabinet Puppet Show. Staged in seven vignettes at three separate venues, the show was inspired by Burleson’s meanderings through suburban New York’s antique/collectibles/junk shops. She was intrigued not only by unusual ephemera, but by the colorful stories that accompanied them. Burleson, Boo-Town’s co-artistic director with Emily Hynds, says, “I was fascinated how these owners would tell you their histories; they fell in love with these objects. It got me thinking that, ‘Wow, as humans, we can click and hum and share these stories, but these objects can’t.’” Larkin Elliot, Emily Marie and Hynds join Burleson in giving voice to the items.
